CPU Guide: Future Cores
This page lists future processor cores that are currently expected from AMD and Intel. As it deals with expected future products, its accuracy is not certain and all materials on this page are subject to change. As with all efforts to predict the future, you would be wise to furnish your own grain of salt.

AMD | Sherman | Mobile Sempron | S1 | 1 | 256 KB | HTT | 65 nm | N/A |
K8L will find its way here. Expect K8L laptop parts around 2 months (perhaps more; actual availability may be a good 6 months later) after the desktop parts. No specific cores, sorry. More on K8L.
Server
Deerhound: Quad-core, die-shrunk iteration of Opteron Santa Rosa. A "Revision G" part. A 12xx version for Socket AM2 or AM3 is strongly possible; it may be known as Greyhound. A big chunk of L3 cache is a distinct possibility. 2007, most likely.
Manufacturer | Core | Series | Socket | Cores | L2 Cache/Core | FSB | Process Size | Top Speed |
AMD | Deerhound | Opteron | F | 4 | 1 MB | HTT | 65 nm | N/A |
Barcelona: Expected to be the first product in AMD's K8L lineup. Native quad core design, with 2 MB of shared L3 "victim" cache. Previewed here. More on K8L here. Mid-2007.
Manufacturer | Core | Series | Socket | Cores | L2 Cache/Core | FSB | Process Size | Top Speed |
AMD | Brisbane | Opteron | F | 4 | 512 KB | HTT | 65 nm | N/A |
Names floating in the inter-soup include Cerebus as an Opteron 83xx/23xx and matching Wolfhound as Opteron 13xx as possible K8L Opterons.
